Mojo’s Pick of the Week – IGNITION by Scream Of The Butterfly

Scream Of The Butterfly CoverI’m not even sure how I stumbled across this but bless Bandcamp for helping me find the most amazing music from around the world every day. This album from Berlin rockers Scream of the Butterfly sounds like a cross between QUOTSA and Stone Temple Pilots, with a dash of Deep Purple sprinkled in for fun.

Modern rock and roll with a 90s groove and little melodic pop edge a winning combination in IGNITION. Standout tracks: Solid Ground Shaking, Missed the Brake, Liquor Store.

Check it out for yourself!

Mojo’s Pick of the Week – Forever, Never or Whenever by Devil to Pay

Devil to Pay CoverYou can never have enough headbanging fuzzy guitar rock, and this hot new release from Indianapolis’ Devil to Pay is a killer addition to the annals of dirty rock and roll. Forever, Never or Whenever, released November 8 on Ripple Music, is the latest full length from the hard rockers, who have been throwing down the heavy since 2002.

Fans of Corrosion of Conformity and Mos Generator will dig the gritty grooves of Devil to Pay. This may just make my favorite albums of the year list, it’s damn good. Standout tracks: Heave Ho, The Devil’s Barking Up Your Tree, 37 Trillion. Get it!

Mojo’s Pick of the Week – Flames Arise by Lowcaster

Lowcaster Flames Arise CoverSan Francisco’s Lowcaster have arisen from their own ashes to produce a complex and emotionally mature sophomore effort, Flames Arise. A quantum leap above their rollicking 2016 debut, Flames Arise is born from “two years of tragedy and loss”, according to the band.

Susie McMullan from Brume supplies background vocals on one of the featured tracks, Shore up the Ashes, adding another layer of harmony and emotion to an already amazing song. Flames Arise is already a contender for one of my favorite albums of 2019.

Standout tracks: Flames Bemoan the Tide, Shore up the Ashes

If you’re in the area, catch Lowcaster at their album debut show at SF’s Thee Parkside with Brume on November 9, 2019! In the meantime, buy or stream Flames Arise at the usual outlets.
