Fans of Black Sabbath and Corrosion of Conformity will definitely dig this Philly foursome. Yes they bring the heavy, but that heavy fuzz has a solid groove and a bluesy engine driving their doom train. Dirty, heavy, groovy, with songs about vampires and Poe-inspired twisted love songs, what’s not to like? Riffs as heavy as Sabbath, accompanied by vocals that go from sweet to an impassioned rasp that would make Pepper proud.
Standouts – “Come Back a God”, “Coraline”, “Supernatural Salesman”. Honestly, there’s not a bad song on this album, it’s all killer, no filler, including the bonus song Honeypot (cut from the vinyl version for space).
Catch these guys at the legendary Maryland Doom Fest this June, but in the meantime definitely pick up Threshold, I’ve been listening to it nonstop for about two weeks now. Rock!
