Don’t let the album cover or the fact that this band is from Sweden fool you, this is not death metal by any stretch of the imagination. Instead, it’s an album of pure blues-based heavy rock in the vein of The Sword, early Iron Maiden, Dio-era Black Sabbath, with some Wolfmother thrown in for good measure. It has a great 70s metal vibe from start to finish.
Nekromant (formerly Serpent) recently signed to Ripple Music, a small but mighty label known for hand picking the best up and coming pysch, stoner and heavy rock. The Nekromant Lives is the third album from the heavy metal trio and the first on Ripple. I’m definitely looking forward to hearing more from these guys in the future!
Standout tracks: The Nekromant Lives, Scorpio, Blood for Walpurgis. Available on Bandcamp and from Ripple Records.
