My favorite feminist fuzz punk duo Deap Vally is back with their sizzling sophomore album “Femejism”, just released on Nevado Music. There’s a little less bravado and a little more confidence in the music this time around, like they have less to prove and more to say. It’s a solid, mature album from a group on the rise.

Check out songs like “Royal Jelly”, “Gonnawanna”, and maybe my favorite song on the album, “Smile More”, which is the epitome of the newfound maturity and unsubtle message of this killer duo. Cheers Lindsey and new mother Julie!

Mojo’s Pick of the Week – LoNero: The Defiant Machine

Bay Area guitarcore pioneers LoNero are back with a new studio album, “The Defiant Machine”. Released in August 2016, this instrumental metal concept album is already racking up stellar reviews for its brilliant musicianship and relentless riff onslaught.

If you’re into Joe Satriani, Dream Theater, Fate’s Warning, and Megadeth, you owe it to yourself to check out LoNero.

The video for the album’s first single just got an exclusive premiere at Guitar Player Magazine and once you see and hear it, you’ll know why people like Joe Satriani have great praise for Bill Lonero and crew.

Mojo’s Pick of the Week – The Watchers

New Bay Area heavy fuzz rock band The Watchers was founded by former members of local favorites SpiralArms and Orchid, making it a sort of local underground stoner rock supergroup. They’ve already signed to Ripple Music and will be releasing their debut EP “Sabbath Highway” in October. They just released their debut video for the song “Today”, check it out!
