Mojo’s Pick of the Week – Shotgun Harlot

pickSonoma County’s Shotgun Harlot may have only been together a few years, but their strong songwriting, solid sound, and energetic live shows have quickly gained them a loyal local following. Fans of Corrosion of Conformity, Black Water Rising, and Black Stone Cherry will enjoy their heavy southern-style rock fury.

They were already impressive when I saw them at the beginning, opening for Burn Halo, and last week I attended their debut CD release show when they played with another up and coming Bay Area band, Pushing the Sun.

Next week on 1/22/14 Shotgun Harlot will be opening for the legendary Ratt at the Phoenix in Petaluma. Give them a listen and a shout on their Facebook page!

Shaking off 2013

Happy New Year Rockers!

If you’ve been following along, you know that 2013 was a rebuilding year for Mojo’s Army. Last January 2 brought big changes to my work schedule, and I spent a while struggling to find the time to make progress on the new music I began last fall.

In the spring I did manage to record and release a new single, “Something I Can Never Have”, a NIN ballad cover:

and a song from the upcoming EP “Red Days” called “Lost in the Fog”, a heavy, downtuned rocker:

There was growth – I took an online course in Music Production from Berklee, did a major music software upgrade to the long-awaited Logic X and then had to relearn my whole workflow and update all my projects. I also just began a collaboration with talented guitarist and fellow craft beer lover Troy Jay Adams, which we’ll see early this year.

In 2013, I made some incredible new friends, and I cut some people out of my life that didn’t deserve to be there. Of all the things that happened in 2013, for me, it’s the friendships that stand out the most. Thank you all for sticking with me through this journey!

Still, like a lot of people I know, I’m not sorry to kick the dust of 2013 off my weathered Doc Martens and move on to what will definitely be a better and more fruitful year. Here’s to a great 2014!

Be sure and keep up with the latest news on my Facebook page, Twitter feed, and YouTube channel.

Cheers my friends and rock on!

Mojo
