Mojo’s Pick of the Week: Zepparella

ZepparellaZepparella – San Francisco’s own all-girl tribute to the mighty Led Zeppelin, comprised of former members of Bottom and A/C-DShe (Clementine on drums, Gretchen Menn on guitar, Nila Minnerok on bass, and fronted by Anna Kristina). What can I say about these incredible women? They are extremely talented, extremely hard working, very cool and quite easy on the eyes to boot. I’ve seen them several times and frankly I think they do Zeppelin better than Zeppelin. Their passion for the songs, their raw talent, and their camaraderie is so infectious that you’ll be smitten as soon as they take the stage. They are rockin Petaluma’s legendary Mystic Theatre this Saturday night with the always-energetic Dave Rude Band. Hope to see you there!

Mojo’s Pick of the Week: Six Weeks Sober

The two fisted punch of Six Weeks Sober is a killer mix of radio-friendly hooks and melodic hard rock. Hailing from San Franicsco, it’s not surprising that their sound is a little Death Angel and a little Papa Roach. They will be playing the Battle of the Bands at the DNA Lounge this Friday September 10, and then will be heading to Nashville to record their debut album with Tesla’s Troy Luccketta! Keep an eye out, cuz Six Weeks Sober may be the next big thing from the Bay Area!

Mojo’s Pick of the Week – Karma to Burn + Year Long Disaster

They’re not new, but they’re new to me! I stumbled across LA’s Karma to Burn when checking out The Sword’s MySpace. Both will be in San Francisco at the beginning of October and I plan to be there!

K2B brings a little extra something to the high desert rock formula, I can’t put my finger on it but it’s like a relentless confidence that is more in your ear and less in your face. They’re currently touring Europe as their alter ego Year Long Disaster, which brings a more modern sound while still kicking major ass.

It’s a Pick of the Week two-fer! Get your rock on!
