Mojo’s Pick of the Week – Pushing the Sun

Pushing the Sun is a heavy melodic rock band from the San Francisco Bay Area, which doesn’t quite describe how they win you over with a style that instantly gets under your skin like you’ve known them forever. Fronted by Andrew Saman and showcasing local guitar hero Billy Connally, these guys are local boys to watch. I’ll be checking them out at the Phoenix in Petaluma on September 27th, catch them around the bay when you can!

Lost in the Fog HEAVY

Mojo’s Pick of the Week: LoNero

The namesake of founder Bill Lonero, LoNero is a groundbreaking Bay Area guitar rock band that originated a style they call Guitarcore, which is their term for melodic instrumental rock that stands on its own without the need for a singer! Bill and his hallmark purple Peavey Wolfgang fronts the band with a ferocious dedication to pure musicianship.

Last year they released their acclaimed second album J.F.L. (or Just Fucking Listen), bringing a new twist to their unique brand of guitar rock with groovy “punkstramental” songs like “Fat Tat.”

LoNero prides themselves on their live shows, and are about to embark on a tour as the backing band for Paul Di’Anno, playing classic Iron Maiden from the first two albums. Think about that for a second – they are standing in for Iron fucking Maiden playing with the original singer! This you have to see, if they come anywhere near you!
